A key part of the Scottish Council Foundation research into the health and wellbeing system is to test some of the core project ideas against real world experience.

To do that, the SCF is carrying out three case study exercises to see how local agencies try to work with different parts of the system to improve wellbeing in their communities.

During the project, the SCF will visit three similar towns in different countries:

  • Dundee, in Scotland
  • Grimsby, in England
  • Järfälla, near Stockholm, in Sweden.

In each place, the SCF will gather some basic evidence about health and wellbeing in the area, and interview people working locally to promote health and wellbeing.

By exploring the same issues in all three places, it should be possible to compare how the different local systems work.

From that comparison, it will hopefully be possible to learn some lessons about what the important factors are for promoting health and wellbeing
