The arrows connecting
the different pictures
The arrows show where one set of influences
has an impact on another. Looking at the map, you’ll
see an arrow that goes from ‘Physical Health’ to ‘Mental
Health’. This means that the set of things within ‘Physical
Health’ has an impact on the set of things within ‘Mental
Health’. In that particular example, you’ll
see another arrow going back the other way – that’s
because we think ‘Mental Health’ has an effect
on ‘Physical Health’ as well.
The reason we’ve
used two single arrows is so we can break the map down
into specific relationships more easily and also to remind
us that the type of impacts described by the two arrows
may be quite different.
